Area 53 - Photo 23 - First Strike!

So like Cale, I was in a quest to catch some lightning on film, or whatever you call it now.
I also got a hold of my camera a bit too late to catch any of the amazing strokes of lightning that hit our city last week. There were a few quick flares and bolts but it didn't look like I got anything.
Thinking I was without a photo for last week, and of course late as usual on posting my blog, I went out to take some pictures in front of Caesars Windsor.
When I got home to go through what I had from tonight I looked through the lightning attempts for the first time. To my surprize, I found a photo containing a little bit of lightning.
And I mean a little bit. But a little is more than none, so I was excited, and since that picture was taken during the week it was supposed to be, I made it my photo of the week.
F'n eh Cotton, f'n eh! My first lightning photo, as lame as a result it might be.
I will get a better one someday I hope, again like Cale, it's now also become a mission for me too.
Even though I should use the other two for next week I just couldn't wait to post them.
I love them, and all the cool colours. I hope you do too.
Enjoy.

Area 53 - Photo 22 - A.J.

This week I'll make it short and sweet.
I'm of course late again, but it was a holiday weekend, so give me a break.
My pic of the week was taken on Victoria Day at my friend Anthony's house.
This is his son A.J.
What a cutie patootie.
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 21 - Harwell Farewell

On Monday, May 10th, the Detroit Tigers paid tribute to the now late and great Ernie Harwell.
I didn't have my good camera that night, only my point and shoot Canon, but it takes pretty good pictures so I can't complain.
My pic of the week is a wanna wide angle of Mr. Harwell's name on the right-centerfield wall with his tribute being paid on the scoreboard in the background.
The flag donning the initials 'EH' was also raised in his honour for the remainder of the season.
Of course with a quick stop by the old Tiger Stadium grounds I snapped a couple quick photos, one of a rose an Ernie Harwell fan stuck in the fence, and the other, a banner on the corner of Michigan and Cochrane stating, 'Keep The Corner Alive'.
Enjoy!

Area 53 - Photo 20 - We Are The Champions!!! Again.

I'm early!!!
And the Windsor Spitfires are once again the OHL Champions, winning the Robertson Cup for the second straight year.
The Spits beat the crap out of the Barrie Colts in the win column and in the boxing ring, sweeping the series in four games.
Code Red moves to Bradford, Manitoba for the Memorial Cup starting May 14.
Go Spits!!!

Area 53 - Photo 19 - Island Off The Highway

This post was supposed to be up on May 3.
I had to do a solo drive to Goderich to pick up my books on Friday and took my camera with every intention of at least stopping a few times to snap a couple quick pics along the way.
The day was long and hot and I bailed on numerous opportunities to pull over to keep up my pace and get home early enough to get other work done.
This is what I got.

Area 53 - Photo 18 - Henrique vs. Skinner

This post was supposed to go up on April 26.
Yes it's from another Spits game, what can I tell you, I take photos at Spits games, that's something I do. Anyway, simply put, it's Adam Henrique up against Jeff Skinner.
The two stars of the OHL Western Conference Finals between the Windsor Spitfires and the Kitchener Rangers.
The Windsor Spitfires gave up a three game head start to the Rangers going up 3-0 in the series. Windsor pulled off four straight wins to take the series and advance to the OHL Finals against the Barrie Colts.
Yes, I'll be posting pics from that series.

Area 53 - Photo 17 - King Kassian

This post was supposed to go up on April 19.

It's a simple shot, I was having issues with my F-stop while shooting a Windsor Spitfires playoff game against the Kitchener Rangers.

I just wanted to get a single good photo of Zack Kassian for his mother.

I got lucky with this one, all the others I took that night came out blurry.
