Area 53 - Photo 47 - Arachnophovember

I know I did a photo of a spider already this year, however, that was just a random pic I took after I bought my macro lens. This little, strike that, this big spider was found on the swing set of my buddy's kid. It was huge. At least as far as spiders we see around here goes.
I tried my best to get a good shot of him, he was a very patient model...lol.
My pic of the week is underbelly of our friend actually hanging from a chair.
I love all the colour in this photo. I've posted two others of the little guy so you can see what he looks like. Also, the other photo is of the University and Ouellette intersection on a dead Monday night in downtown Windsor, but it still turned out pretty cool for very little effort.
Enjoy!
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 46 - Beauty Above Us

I've been out of town for a conference hoping to take some cool photos of something but time contraints have allowed no time for creativity.
However, the chandelier in the hotel ballroom kept grabbing my attention so on the last day of the conference I found a couple minutes to get in there between sessions to snap a couple pics.
I added a little red to the natural colour of the ceiling which is actually tan.
I can't explain how big this chandelier is exactly, but if I had to guess, it's roughly a few feet in diametre.
Hopefully you don't find this photo of the week to boring.
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 45 - Blast From The Past

This week I visited what turned out to be a really unique auto antique shop out in Lasalle at the corner of Matchette and Laurier. I actually went and knocked on the door to ask permission to take some photos of the cars in their side lot, the woman told me they don't allow photos inside, but that I was more than welcome to take pictures from outside the fence.

So that I did, after a nice conversation with Diane, who even told me some of the best times of day to take some shots, the best being during sunrise.

She was the woman I met when I was leaving thinking the shop was closed. I told her what it was all about and gave her the address to this blog, I hope she stops by.

I'm sure her name was Diane, but I got wrapped up in trying to get a few shots through the tight fencing filled with ivy and weeds, to the point I'm questioning myself if that was for sure her name. If you're reading this, please correct me.
I hope you like the pics if you see them.

Area 53 - Photo 44 - I'm a Pepper

My apologies for being a couple days behind this week.
Unfortunately, I didn't find the time last week to take one single photograph other than the one above that I took with my iphone.
Cale has done several self portraits during the course of our project so I figured it was time I did one of myself. It's not the most conventional of self portraits, actually, it's a photo of my reflection in a glass of Dr. Pepper. Dare to be different right?
Anyway, I hope to get out and do something a little more creative before next monday, but believe it or not, I actually like this pic.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Area 53 - Photo 43 - Raise Your Hands If You're Sure

Last night I went to visit my friends in Finger Eleven and see their show at Headliners in Toledo, I also got to shoot the show.
The lighting in that place couldn't be any worse so I did my best only to get a few decent photos.
Of the bunch, these three all featured the guys with their hands in the air, it made me think of those old Sure deodorant commercials.
Well, I thought it was funny anyway.
I hope you dig 'em.
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 42 - Neverending Race

Happy Turkey Day!
It's been a few weeks since I've actually been able to go out and take any photos, but amidst playing baseball and hitting the spits game, I visited the old Windsor Dragway for Thanksgiving.
It's time for me to hit the sack so I'll make this short.
I took a ton of pics, but there are way too many to post on my blog, so here this is what I got.
My pic of the week is an old concession building at the dragway, this time in panaramic, not to mention a new paint job.
The wall showing the 2010 year on it was a new look, freshly covered in grafitti, compared to the second photo, which I took about a year ago when Cale and I went to the same place.
(notice the 2008 I cut and pasted in from an additional photo)
The last photo I just knew I liked right when I looked at it on my camera screen.
It's simply the busted handle lock on the freezer shown the other photos.
Eventually I'll post some of the others pics I got from today.
Peace out.

Area 53 - Photo 41 - Captain Ellis

Like Cale, I wasn't able to take very many photos this past week, and I was pretty sick to boot.
I was however, able to snap a decent shot of the Windsor Spitfires newly named captain, Ryan Ellis. It's unfortunate he had to return to Windsor from the Nashville Predator tryouts, but I guess it's our gain. Congrats to Ryan, and good luck leading our team, hopefully to another championship. Fingers crossed!
I promise next week I'll stray from the Spits and make it a little more difficult on myself to obtain my weekly photo.
