Area 53 - Photo 36 - High Rollin'

My pic of the week is aptly named, since this guy is high up on the Ambassador Bridge painting it with a roller. There's no way in hell I'd be doing that job, EVER!!!
This was just a random photo I took walking back from a work lunch outing, which was right by where I park my car. Good thing I had my camera in my truck at the time.
The second pic is also 'high rollin', only in the sense that I was on the suite level of the Fox Theatre in Detroit indulging in an amazing buffet before the Stone Temple Pilots concert.
I took this photo with my camera phone, but I still like it. At least more than the panaramics I took on the same night, they look cool, they just weren't as clear as I hoped they would be.
Maybe I'll get the chance to go in there one day and use my good camera instead of my iphone.
Fingers crossed!
I hope you dig the pics!

Area 53 - Photo 35 - Thamesville Bridge(s)

The Historic Thamesville Bridge was the 'happy accident' of the weekend before rain put a damper on things and ended a random road trip on account of the downpour.
I didn't know it at the time but it turned out the bridge is actually in fact historic.
There was a rock at the site telling the whole story but I couldn't get a shot out of the car window with the heavy rain.
Check out this link, it's got a bit of history about the bridge(s).
My pic of the week is a panaramic of the current bridge and the south remains of it's original predecessor. The rest are a collection of the site including a water level scale underneath the bridge, a cemetary beside the narrow entrance of the area, and the odd pic out being a shot of some cool clouds I saw when I was getting in the car beside a gas station.
For more info on the Thamesville Bridge and to see some cool pics of the bridge from road level click on the link to what they have to say about it on historicbridges.org
I hope you enjoy the photos.
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 34 - The Moon Shot

My photo of the week pretty much speaks for itself, it's a moon shot, or I guess, a half-moon shot.
The second is a panaramic of the pond at Ojibway Park facing south.
That's all.
Enjoy!

Area 53 - Photo 33 - Comerica Explosions

Explosions at Comerica Park came in both the form of post-game fireworks and an altercation between Torii Hunter and the umpire which led to Hunter's ejection and then him returning to the field weilding a bag of baseballs onto the field all across homeplate and down the third base line.
Comerica Explosions is a simple pic from Comerica Park during their friday night Pepsi Fireworks display. It was one of the most colourful of the bunch, I think i'm going to put together a time lapse video of a string of white explosins, maybe.
The Hunter Explosions is a double image of both Hunter arguing with the umpire and post ball bag throwing. They're not the best quality in the world because I took them from the right field stands with a 300mm zoom but they look alright, both original images, as well as the other two, are all 30"x10".
The other two pics are of Miguel Cabrera in the batter's box with new Tigers aquisition Jhonny Peralta deck, and Hideki Matsui watching the ball come over the plate.
Enjoy!

Area 53 - Photo 32 - Down In A Hole

Over the holiday weekend I was so lucky as to visit a farm in Gesto, Ontario...ya, that's right, I don't know where it is either. But seriously, it was such a cool experience for me being a city boy and all. I owe that all to Ashlyne and her family.
To be brief, my pic of the week is from the bottom of a silo...with a bit of a red colourization.
It was pretty cool down there, kinda creepy like a horror film.
The others are the hayloft in the barn (what a cool spot), a trio of beautiful horses watching us horseback ride their neighbour, and a panaramic of the backside of the barn (notice the horses in the pasture on the far right).
