Area 53 - Photo 44 - I'm a Pepper

My apologies for being a couple days behind this week.
Unfortunately, I didn't find the time last week to take one single photograph other than the one above that I took with my iphone.
Cale has done several self portraits during the course of our project so I figured it was time I did one of myself. It's not the most conventional of self portraits, actually, it's a photo of my reflection in a glass of Dr. Pepper. Dare to be different right?
Anyway, I hope to get out and do something a little more creative before next monday, but believe it or not, I actually like this pic.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Area 53 - Photo 43 - Raise Your Hands If You're Sure

Last night I went to visit my friends in Finger Eleven and see their show at Headliners in Toledo, I also got to shoot the show.
The lighting in that place couldn't be any worse so I did my best only to get a few decent photos.
Of the bunch, these three all featured the guys with their hands in the air, it made me think of those old Sure deodorant commercials.
Well, I thought it was funny anyway.
I hope you dig 'em.
See you next week.

Area 53 - Photo 42 - Neverending Race

Happy Turkey Day!
It's been a few weeks since I've actually been able to go out and take any photos, but amidst playing baseball and hitting the spits game, I visited the old Windsor Dragway for Thanksgiving.
It's time for me to hit the sack so I'll make this short.
I took a ton of pics, but there are way too many to post on my blog, so here this is what I got.
My pic of the week is an old concession building at the dragway, this time in panaramic, not to mention a new paint job.
The wall showing the 2010 year on it was a new look, freshly covered in grafitti, compared to the second photo, which I took about a year ago when Cale and I went to the same place.
(notice the 2008 I cut and pasted in from an additional photo)
The last photo I just knew I liked right when I looked at it on my camera screen.
It's simply the busted handle lock on the freezer shown the other photos.
Eventually I'll post some of the others pics I got from today.
Peace out.

Area 53 - Photo 41 - Captain Ellis

Like Cale, I wasn't able to take very many photos this past week, and I was pretty sick to boot.
I was however, able to snap a decent shot of the Windsor Spitfires newly named captain, Ryan Ellis. It's unfortunate he had to return to Windsor from the Nashville Predator tryouts, but I guess it's our gain. Congrats to Ryan, and good luck leading our team, hopefully to another championship. Fingers crossed!
I promise next week I'll stray from the Spits and make it a little more difficult on myself to obtain my weekly photo.

Area 53 - Photo 40 - Above The Banners

Another Windsor Spitfires season begins, another championship raising takes place.
I managed to get out of bed despite being sick as a dog to collect my credentials and photograph the ceremony. I only stuck around for a period and managed not to vomit onto the ice below in time to snap a few pics. Plus, I still have no real idea how to work my new camera and all it's funky settings, Sunday was definitely not the day to try and learn.
Anyway, my photo of the week is the four banners taken from in the rafters with new Spitfire Jack Campbell (10th pick overall in the 2010 draft) in the crease below.
The others include a closer pick of Campbell, a cool pic of Di Salvo on the other end of the rink facing his own net, and an overhead of a fight being wrangled up by the refs.
I hope you enjoy the few I got, and I hope to enjoy the long season ahead trying to utilize my new equipment to capture some great hockey moments.
Til next week,

Area 53 - Photo 39 - Girlicious Embraces UWindsor

I had Girlicious perform at the University of Windsor Pub this past Thursday night and took the first real challenging photos I had taken in weeks.
It was the first time I used my new Canon 50D and I was having a hell of a time figuring it out on the fly without ever checking out all the features I had no idea how to use, but eventually was able to find the right settings to get at least a couple alright photos of the show.
The new renamed Thirsty Scholar wasn't as full as it could've been that night, but the crowd loved Girlicious, and Girlicious loved them back.
This is my favourite of the bunch, Natalie reaching out and embracing her Windsor fans.
Now that the my few weeks of chaos at work has passed, I'm hoping to get out there and really take advantage of the new camera.
Ciao for now.

Area 53 - Photo 38 - Arrival

Since I'm catching up on the last two weeks at one time, here's blog two in the last few minutes.
During my week of madness my friends welcomed their daughter into the world.
Of the few times I've managed to stop in for visit since she's been born these are the best I've managed to get of her with her eyes open, which was about 30 seconds combined.
What a sweetheart!
The second is a random macro shot I took during one of my visits of an ant on a beach towel.
The ant is cool, but I really think I'm more fanscinated with the fabric of the towel.
Enjoy.
