Area 53 - Photo 1 (New Year's Day - 2010)
New Year's Freeze - Todd Shearon
This is the first photo in what my friend Cale Best and I have called 'Area 53'. It's quite simply a challenge between us to showcase some of our photography which will be taken throughout the year to come. We hope to challenge each other during 2010 to help become better photographers along the way.
The deal is to post one photo a week on a blog and/or on our websites for the entire 2010 year, you know we gotta keep the fifteen people that view them a reason to keep coming back.
Every photo has to be posted on Monday of each week and it had to be taken the week prior up to the day it gets posted. Fifty-three photographs in all. Area 53, get it? haha. Now sometimes we might find ourselves taking more photos one week and not so many the next. Also, we're bound to like more than one photo we've taken in any given week so we decided to have an 'additional photo' section for every week as well. Like I said, some weeks we might be on picture overload and others it might be slim pickins, some will be simple photographs and others will be artsy as hell. You never know what you might see. Either way we hope anybody who stops by to check them out will take the time to drop us a message to tell us what they think, or post a comment somewhere. Thanks.
I titled this photograph 'New Year's Freeze' simply because it was taken during the process of making an ice rink in a friend's backyard for his two year old son Peyton to skate on New Year's Day, and of course us too. It's clearly a hose propped up on a little kid's chair in order to flood the rink area, but I thought it looked cool. It warmed up yesterday so the rink won't be ready until tomorrow, but it'll be worth the wait. Maybe I should've called the photo, "Day After New Year's Freeze'.
Hope everyone makes the most of this new year and decade.
One Love & Unity!
Todd
